Video: Burgess bashes the Irish

Sam Burgess showed why England were so keen to lure him away from rugby league and name him in their Rugby World Cup side with a bruising hit on Irish back Ian Madigan.

With England holding onto a 21-13 lead in the dying stages of their warm-up match on the weekend, Burgess lined up the Irish playmaker and delivered a massive hit that plenty of players around the NRL are familiar with.

Amid much speculation, Burgess was selected in England's RWC side after making the switch to the 15-man code late last year.

Burgess will go head-to-head with the Wallabies in the pool stages of the tournament on Sunday, October 4 (Australia time).
