Greg Polson's view - Bank on Messara early at Muswellbrook

Following trainer Paul Messara in the early part of the program at Muswellbrook looks a good way for punters to get a bank.

Messara has accepted with Valyrian Steel in the 3YO Maiden Plate (900m) and Surf City in the "Girls Day Out” 20th September Maiden Plate (1500m).

Valyrian Steel is a three-year-old son of Redoute's Choice and hasn't missed a place in his two career starts finishing just over a length from the winner at Newcastle on March 14 in his only run in the first preparation before finishing just over three-lengths from Duty Dude at Hawkesbury when resuming on August 29.

The Duty Dude maiden at Hawkesbury has the potential to be a good form race as they ran substantially quicker overall time than the class two winner Zoutenant over the same distance on the same day and the overall sectionals were superior as well.

Valyrian Steel gets his chance to win a race back to a country set-weight maiden against his own age.

Beneteau three-year-old Surf City was placed at Muswellbrook on debut and just behind the placegetters in maidens at Kembla Grange and Newcastle in three runs in his first preparation.

Surf City was a run short resuming over 1300 metres at Scone on August 28 hitting the front straightening before the lack of a run told over the final stages before finishing third, four-lengths from the winner.

With the first-up run under his belt Surf City will take plenty of running down on Friday.

Hear Greg Polson's full assessment of Muswellbrook on RSN when he previews the meeting at approximately 10.55am.

Greg uses sectional times provided by Vince Accardi and the team from .
